Biology: An Introduction

Biology is derived from two Greek words- Bios and Logos. Bios means Life. Logos means to study or discourse. Literally, Biology means "the study of life".  Jean Baptiste Lamarck first  suggested the term biologie (biology).

Life is difficult to describe. But, we can classify life broadly in 3 groups: Plants, Animals and Microorganisms. Hence, Biology may be classified into 3 major branches:
  1. Botany that deals with the study of plants life.
  2. Zoology that deals with the study of animal life.
  3. Microbiology that deals with the study of micro-organisms.

Biology has a broad field of studies. It involves the study of cells and their products at molecular level and extends its scope to study life on other planets.

BIOLOGY tries to answer all the questions related to life and its process. A person who studies biology is known as a biologist.

Will you be a Biologist?

Yes.
If you can think critically, solve problems and have some idea about what biology can and cannot do,  you will be able to be a biologist.

Thanks!
